FOCUS Learning Corporation
Case Study

Aria CFO Advisors transformed our financial operations. When we initially struggled with transitioning to QuickBooks Online and GAAP compliance through a large firm, David and the Aria team stepped in. Not only did they meticulously organize our books, but they provided professional development to ensure our team understood the changes and could maintain them moving forward. Their expertise, attention to detail, and commitment extends beyond numbers—they empower business growth. Plus, Aria thinks in the context of the big picture: ensuring we appropriately plan for our eventual exit. Highly Recommend!

The Problem

FOCUS was acquired by a PE-backed Search Fund in mid-2023. At the time of acquisition, the company was reporting on a cash basis and its financial statements required a significant overhaul. Despite paying top-dollar for the support from a mid-sized CPA firm and having internal finance-team resources, the FOCUS team struggled to make sense of its own financial data and to connect its historical performance with its projection model.

The Solution

Aria was hired to update the company’s financial model and build a more comprehensive budget. After starting the engagement, we quickly pivoted to not only a deep clean and restatement of the Company’s financial results, but also to the creation of a more effective month-end reporting close that aligned with the Company’s needs and resources.

The
Results

Aria was able to effectively merge historical results with
forecasted output and improve the company’s ability to
understand its current and forecasted financial position. This
allowed for the creation of a stronger month-end review and
re-forecasting cadence and improved communications
between the sales, technology and finance teams that gave
the CEO tighter control over cash flow.
